Saturday AM will have a really nice farmers market downtown. If you are an out of town guest we HIGHLY recommend brunch at Goldies, Red Feather, or Fork. (Everywhere else is good, too.) We suggest you go to check out the market, self-tour the Capitol building, and enjoy how charming Boise is.
Hotels & Accommodations
There are several hotels in Downtown Boise. We also recommend using VRBO and AirBnB to find lodging.
Things to Do
For those coming in from out of state who have never had the great fortune to have been to Idaho before, here are some ideas:
Idaho State Capitol. Its the People’s House, which means you can just stroll right in. Its a gorgeous building.
The Old Penetentiary. This is Jane’s favorite place to take out of town visitors. They have a prison tattoo exhibit, wall of shivs, and a weaponry museum.
Birds of Prey. Go see some crazy eagles and hawks that eat monkeys. Its a pretty cool facility.
Day Trip to Sun Valley take the scenic route there, spend a couple hours walking around, and take the slightly less scenic (and faster) route back.
Raft Trips– Take a day trip and see some beautiful country. You can also fly fish or go hiking.
There are a ton of outdoor activities and great restaurants downtown. Or you can always just hang out with us.
RESTAURANTS
Basque food is delicious and for that authentic lamb grinder with croquettas check out Bar Gernkia.
Boise’s best pizza is Flying Pie.
Jane and Chris are also fond of Flat Bread and Bardenay and Fork.
Brunch: Goldys and Red Feather.
BARS
Both the Modern and The Mode offer fancy cocktails.
And you’ve probably heard Jane mention the Neurolux a time or two.
If craft beer and an arcade sounds great, check out Space Bar.
